So much has happened within the last week to 10 days and I will catch you all up on that BUT I came across this article and thought it was so awesome that I had to write about it. It also beat reading about Boris Johnson today (I also found out that Boris isn't even his real name... anyway I digress..)
Sainsburys have launched a new No and Low alcohol pub called the Clean Vic!!
The Clean Vic like a traditional pub but will serve a range of non-alcoholic and low (up to 0.5%) alternatives to wines, beers and spirits and also has Mocktail classes 🍹
I chose to stay on the wagon for personal reasons after my diagnosis but I love the taste of a cold beer on a sunny day so instead of a pint of Peroni I now choose a Becks Blue... no biggy 🍺
Bizarrely there has been a huge shift in people's thought process that it is miraculous that I don't drink wobbly pops anymore or a weird stigma that I may have previously had a problem with alcohol or even worse that I won't enjoy a night out because I am sober... 😮
My darling I have not turned into a pan pipe dancing botanist (no offense to pan pipe dancing botanists) because I won't neck some cheap lighter fluid you have just purchased from the Offy. I will still enjoy my night, socialising and having a laugh with my friends. I will also go home completely happy and joyful that I will wake up fresh as a daisy in the morning with no hangover and chips and cheese stuck to my fingers and there will be no pics of me flashing my boobs or taking a pee behind a wheelie bin.
I have never been dependant on alcohol and I would not ever preach to anybody about drinking, my family enjoy a drink as does my husband BUT when I see black out putrid drunk, that is just not a good look on anyone.
I have noticed that there has been a real spike in no / low alcohol drinks available in my local supermarket, from Ciders to Gin and drinks like Seedlip so this is kind of pioneering and certainly a step toward those wanting to or needing help to lead a lower alcohol free life or for those who may just want to reduce their alcohol intake.
I am not sure it'll become a 'thing' but it may mean pubs, chains and restaurants may offer more low alcohol varieties in their chiller cabinets and the pan pipe dancing botanist can enjoy her night out without feeling like an outcast or 'ohhh are your pregnant?' As a side note I also read that sobriety is now becoming a trend so, for once, I am down with the cool kids 😁💕💋
